I have been watching road racing since the age of about 4yrs now i am 62yrs i have seen Duke Surtees Minter macintyre Read Sheene Roberts i have left Agostini till last because in my opinion thats where he deserves to be. Although he did go well in 1967 senior race only because it steered like it was on rails. STANLY MICHAEL BAILEY HAILWOOD stands head and shoulders above all the forementioned riders I will make one concession to GEOFF DUKE his style was as if he was moulded to his machine be it Norton or Gilera closely followed by MIKE. I have just seen HAYDEN win his first world title and congratulations to him. I think i am correct in saying that MIKE was british champion in 125 250 and 350 in 1958 age 18 was 125 250 350 and 500 in1959 age19 and again 125 250 350 and 500 british champion in 1960 age 20 thats 11 out of 12 british championships Between ege 18 to 20. Mike won the first of his 10 world championships in 1961 along with the first of his 12 tt wins(i think) I will not go on and on about MIKE THE BIKE and bore any readers to sleep .Just one more comment About my hero MIKE could get on any bike a little 125 a big 1000 a two stroke a four stroke a single cylinder or a six cylinder and win and achieve all this and retire at age 27 yrs.

A Super site for a Super Star. Used to cycle from Mitcham to Brands Hatch to watch Mike and The Mint do battle in the early 60s. Sat at Glen Helen when Mike slid off the 125 Ducati on the first lap (heroes aren't supposed to do that sort of thing!). Watched Mike's career blossom right through to the 1979 Classic TT when Alex George broke all Mike's fans hearts! Unforgettable!

Mike was the man. I'm proud to own a Ducati MH900e, which all my friends call "The Hailwood." Thank you for this comprehensive site letting all of us know more about Mike the Bike!
