I see in the news section on this site, that Mike's son Dave, will almost certain ride the 1978 winning Ducati next year (2008) on the Isle of Man for the 30 year anniversary. Wouldn't it be a great thing to have him escorted by lots of Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica's...???? I'll be the first to volunteer..!!!

Did anyone ever consider to bring as many Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica's to the Isle of Man for the 30th year anniversary of Mike's win in 1978? As the owner of a 1985 Mille MHR Replica, I would love to ride on the famous race track with lot's of other MHR's!!! It would be a wonderful sight (and sound...!!!)a true memorial for Mike Hailwood, Steve Wynne and Ducati!!

Who ever is the force behind, this is the ultimate net memorial dedicated to the greatest bike rider ever. Mike just deserves this perfection. Would give a fortune to find something close to this for Bill Ivy and Santiago Herrero, two other all time greats of mine. With my very best comliments. J.F. Landmesser

I read some of the guestbook comments after having a look at Mike's web site and was really compelled to write a few words. I come from the generation who grew up with Mike during his racing career. I was seventeen the first time I saw Mike at Mallory Park. I was there on a Honda CD 175 with a Friend on his CB250 (those were the days!!). The first thing that struck us as we parked the Bikes and started to get our togs off was the sound of Mike's 500cc/4 Honda followed by the MV of Ag on the 500cc/3 who were both on practice laps. All I can say is WOW!! What a sound and it still haunts me today and gives me goose pimples. On that day, we managed to get into the pit lane and chat to Mike and Ago who both, even though they were tied up with one thing and another, still had time to have a chat and sign our programmes which we still have today. I followed Mikes career off and on after that and managed to see him at many races and years all over the UK. In 1980, I moved to Germany and spent some 20 years there. It was during this time that I heard of the deaths of Mike and his Daughters tragic and accidental deaths on the 23rd of March 1981. Unbelievable for me at the time and a terrible shock for anyone who knew or who had met him. It was at that time I vowed to visit their resting places some day. In 2000 I returned to the UK and went to Tanworth in Arden to visit the resting place. I was so moved that words fail me just now. Ever since and as a member of the Triumph Owners Club in Meriden (although now on four wheels due to encroaching ill health), I take part in the "Hailwood Memorial Run" which is an annual event. Even now and after all these years it is a tribute to Mike to see how many Bikers and individuals turn up for this event and pay their respects to in my mind, the greatest two wheel racer of all time. He was, is and always will be for me a true legend. God bless you both.

Too young to have seen Mike Hailwood in action but as a Ducatti 900 Darmah rider (81 model) my dream was to own a Hailwood Replica - but without really knowing his story. I was saddened to read that he had been killed with his daughter (more heartfelt when you have two young daughters) while on the way to the local fish and chip shop. There are far too many legends that go before there time. My sincere thoughts to the Hailwood family

I first saw Mike at Oulton park when I was 16, I remember going there on my BSA bantam , from Liverpool to Oulton park was quite a run on a bantam, but I,ll remember it for ever, my first time at race track, the people, the bikes, the smell of castrol R , and most of all Mike. that day left an impression on me that has been with me all my life. I went to oulton many times after that on all kinds of different bikes i,ve owned over the years and seen all the great riders .I was at the TT in 1967 when Mike won the 250 350 and 500 and many more times including his return to the Island when he won on the Ducati both times. I was at parliament square in Ramsey a couple of years ago when David did a lap on one of the Honda,s dressed in Mikes colours, (that brought a lump to my throat). I,m 58 now with two grown up boys and a lovely little granddaughter, and i,m still a big bike and race fan. the TV coverage is far better these days. but no one can take away the memories I have of the live racing, I tip my hat at all those guys who gave and still are giving us fans such pleasure, and right at the top on my list is Mike Hailwood. I just wanted you to know that. regards, Rod.
