The
"Vee Two Hailwood"
Last year we were approached
by John Keogh Design and Vee Two Australia with the idea
of producing twelve ‘true’ copies of Mike’s
famous 1978 TT winning bike. Twelve because that was the
number on the bike, and because there has never been a ‘true’
copy made, as it was when Mike crossed the winning line.
There have been ‘replicas’ and ‘tributes’
but never a true copy, so this sounded exciting.
Vee Two Australia are specialist engineers
in this field and now own the rights to the original NCR
engine. So with their expertise, John Keogh’s persistence
for the correctness of each and every detail, and the help
and guidance of the man that made it all happen in the first
place, Steve Wynne, we were very happy to co-operate with
the project.
The first bike will be launched at this year’s
Isle of Man, Classic Races on Saturday 25th August. It is
planned that Dave will ride the new bike in a tribute lap,
which will also include the amazing John McGuinness riding
Mike’s orginal bike. So it’s going to be a truly
memorable day.
It will be a real tribute for this 40th Anniversary
of Mike’s legendary win. The Hailwood family, Steve
Wynne, and many of those who were present in 1978 will be
there to make more magic, and with various events organised
over the weekend, it sounds like one not to be missed. We
look forward to seeing you there.
Best wishes
Pauline &
David Hailwood
