MEDALS 1-1
M.B.E. - Member of the Order of the British Empire
(although Mike said it stood for motor bike engineer) awarded for his services to Motorcycle Racing in 1968

G.M. - The George Medal
Britains highest civilian award for bravery.
Mike was granted this in the New Years Honours List in 1974 in recognition of His brave actions at the 1973 South African Formula 1 Grand Prix where he undoubtedly saved the life of fellow driver Clay Regazzoni by pulling him unconscious, from his wrecked car which was engulfed in flames.
