THE HAILWOOD MEMORIAL RUN

SUNDAY MARCH 25th 2001

I would just like to say a very big thankyou to everyone who attended the 'Mike Hailwood Memorial Run' on Sunday 25th March.

Especially, I send my sincere thanks to Jon Price, for coming up with the idea and who did a wonderful job in organizing the whole event. John Peters, for looking after the grave so well and making it look so nice. Tim Harmer, the vicar, who allowed motorbikes in the church.!! And also the marshalls who helped to guide us through Birmingham, not an easy task. It's a wonder we got through without getting a ticket, it wasn't easy keeping up with you guys in our car.!!

A special thanks to our old friend Tommy Robb, for giving the address, they were warm words and true. Also, to Jennifer Sawyer, who read 'Desiderata' (which has been an excellent guide over the years), and for being there for me twenty years ago, and still today,

Fortunately, the rain held off, but it was a cold damp morning, the clocks had just changed, and it was Mothering Sunday, so it was wonderful to see such a high attendance. The atmosphere was full of warmth and comaraderie, and it was lovely to see so many friendly faces old and new. The bikes were fantastic too, and good to see some nice historic ones among the big beasties.

It was a wonderful day, Mike would have been touched to know that he is still held in such high regard. Thankyou everyone, I really appreciated your being there.

Yours sincerely,

Pauline Hailwood
