I remember Mike saying that he was a little in awe of the power of this bike at Australia's road racing "capital" Bathurst! That he then went on to win the F1 TT that year and set a new outright lap record for the TT on a Suzuki RG500 just shows that he could master any bike he ever rode! It was a real privilege to have the great man ride here in Australia. - Nigel Bryan

Australian Grand prix - You can see by the inscriptions that the shot has been signed by various members of the annual Willoughby MCC Bathurst campfire set. Mike spent several evenings up on top of the mountain, drinking around the fire - although he had plenty of offers of more salubrious surroundings in town - I reckon he had a better time with us! - Jim Scaysbrook
